PUMA, in collaboration with Scuderia Ferrari HP, proudly celebrates the groundbreaking material that has transformed the world of racing: carbon fiber. This Grand Prix weekend at Monza will not only highlight the thrill of speed and competition but also pay tribute to the material that has greatly enhanced safety and performance in Formula 1.
Since its first appearance in the USA in 1958, carbon fiber has revolutionized Formula 1. Scuderia Ferrari HP began using it in 1982 to reinforce their car’s chassis, and by 1983, they introduced the first car with a full carbon fiber structure, significantly improving safety and durability. Over the years, carbon fiber has become indispensable in F1, being used for everything from custom-fit pedals to steering components. By 2014, even gearboxes were made entirely of carbon fiber, underscoring its critical role in enhancing speed and aerodynamics.
At this year’s Italian Grand Prix, Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz will sport exclusive race suits, t-shirts, caps, and Speedcat Pro race boots, all featuring a carbon-fiber-inspired design that merges the rich heritage of racing with a modern, sleek aesthetic. These items showcase an all-black base, accented with striking yellow highlights—a color deeply rooted in Scuderia Ferrari HP’s legacy and symbolic of Modena, the hometown of Enzo Ferrari, where the iconic black Prancing Horse was born.
